But we were confident that we will win,” he further added.

The Indian team were jubilant at their hard earned win. The team captain Anup Kumar expressed his happiness and simply stated, “Ajay won us the final.”

The Indian kabaddi team head coach Balwan Singh dedicated his team’s wining to the soldiers of Indian Army who were killed in September’s Uri attack. “We dedicate this win to our brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the terrorist attack in Uri,” he said.

Asserting that it was winning that mattered most to him and his team, not the possible financial gains from it the coach said, “We do not play to get awards from the government. Getting honours is a secondary thing. We play for the nation. The love and support that the people give us is the biggest honour. Playing for the nation is an award in itself.”
